Super Why: Humpy Dumpty and Dinosaur Train: Pteranodon Family World Tour Adventure - New on DVD
Super Why: Humpty Dumpty has to be my daughter's new favorite DVD. We received this DVD for review and we have watched it so many times that I finally had to charge up the portable DVD player so that she can watch it by herself. It is really cute, but I can only watch the same DVD so many times in one day! My daughter loves Super Why and she loves fairy tales, so this DVD is a perfect fit for us. Super Why: Humpty Dumpty & Other Fairytale Adventures features four episodes: Humpty Dumpty, Cinderella, Pinocchio, and Rumpelstiltskin. In Humpty Dumpty, Pig has climbed to the top of a slide but is scared to slide down. The Super Readers get into the Humpty Dumpty Book to see how Humpty Dumpty safely gets down from the wall. Then they return to pig, and use what they learned in the story, to get him down the slide. If you aren't familiar with Super Why, it is a great series for preschoolers and beginning readers. The characters always jump into a book to figure out how to solve a problem. They also include letters and letter sounds in the episodes. It is a cute series. We also received a copy of the new Dinosaur Train DVD, Dinosaur Train: Pteranodon Family World Tour Adventure. I think this is an adorable series. It is from the Jim Henson Company, so you know it is going to be a quality series. I knew that we would all enjoy this DVD. My little guy is just getting into dinosaurs and trains are his first love, so this didn't disappoint. There are actually 8 episodes on this DVD and it is over and hour and a half long. We watched a couple of episodes each day and it was perfect. The Pteranadon family sets off on a world tour on which they meet many of the different species of dinosaurs. They travel through a time tunnel and are able to meet dinosaurs from different time periods. My little guy liked the episode in which the Pteranodon family meets Chung, a Confuciousaurus. They laughed and laughed that the birds name was Chung and loved how colorful he was. My daughter had a special interest in an episode in which Tiny Pteranodon loses her Tiny Doll that she has slept with every night since she was a baby. Tiny is afraid she won't be able to sleep without her doll. Luckily, Valerie Velociraptor finds it and returns it to Tiny because she knows how important it is to her. My little girl has a piggy that has never left her side and I watched her honest concern for Tiny and her doll. It was very cute. Both of these DVD's are from PBS Kids and were just released online and in stores, at very reasonable prices. I found them under $9 at both Amazon and Walmart. I think that is quite reasonable for a new release. My kids have had the DVD's for a few weeks now, and are still watching them. Super Why is still in very heavy rotation!
